Each of our students designed and then carved a pumpkin. It was messy but an enjoyable activity!
We continued our experiments with vinegar and baking soda today. It was a beautiful day to go out and practice our social skills with a game of tag on the playground area! Here are our milk sellers in action at the nutrition break. Good work! We ended the day by finishing our Halloween art scary faces. I'm beginning to see a trend here! Everytime we do our "cooking" we are so busy with the food that we forget to take pictures.
Today we carefully followed the directions to make chocolate pudding and all took turns to make it. The students did a great job together and no one wore it home! Tomorrow we will be looking more closely at the nutrition label on the package and try and answer some questions about the information we read there. Our flag challenge is still open! If you have the opportunity, point out a Canadian flag in your neighbourhood to your child and write us a note in the agenda. Who will be first to spot a flag in our community and tell us about it? In Social Studies we are learning about our great country, Canada. Today we read a story about the Canadian Flag and then proudly coloured our own. The students were challenged to look for Canadian flags on their way to and from school and tell us where they saw them tomorrow. Today we worked on the laptops to write sentences using Premier Talking Word Processor. Our students are beginning to use the program quite effectively and have fun doing it too! We also took time to look at this website and had fun watching our slideshows and video on the web. After reading some Halloween books, we used Crayola Model Magic to make some Halloween faces and creatures. Watch for the completed project to come home soon. The faces need to dry and then be coloured in.
We continue to learn American Sign Language for many words. Ask your child to show you some of the signs we have learned. Today we played a fun action game with the signs that we know. Tomorrow is popcorn day, it costs $1.00 and is sold school wide at second nutrition break. Remember that you can buy chocolate milk any day also for $1.00 and it is our class that are responsible for the job. Today in science we tried an experiment with mixing baking soda and vinegar. Half our students predicted that it would "explode" when they were mixed and half predicted that "nothing would happen".
