Room 210 - Parent information
Welcome to our class web site! Here you will find information about the program, as well as class news and important reminders. We look forward to adding content from our students as the year progresses. This does not replace our usual methods of communication such as the agendas and phone calls, but is an additional tool that we can use.
Structured Learning
For parents of students in my class, as you may be aware, we use the Structured Learning System in our program. This is based on the TEACCH model, a method of teaching students using visual structure with the focus of creating independent work skills. To learn more about TEACCH:
Click here for a link to the TEACCH website.
We have created a pamphlet for our classroom that describes how we use the Structured Learning System and how we can work with you to problem solve issues at home.
Click here to view a copy of the pamphlet.
Handwriting Without Tears
As a part of our program focusing on physical development we are using the Handwriting Without Tears system of teaching printing. If you would like more information on this system and how it works please click here.
If you would like to practice handwriting at home using the same system I have links below to copies of letter and number formation guides:
How to make capital letters.
How to make lowercase letters.
How to form numbers.
Premier Software
Our students have been learning to use the word processing program "Talking Word Processor" to write their daily news. For more information on this program you can visit the website on the link below.
